Eduwis Kindergarten Remains the Top Choice for Parents in Sarawak

In Sarawak, there are six centres in total, with five situated in Kuching and one in Sibu. Eduwis Preschool has consistently been the top choice among parents in Sarawak. As a result, securing a seat is challenging, with enrolment consistently at full capacity and long waiting lists.

Eduwis’ mission revolves around education without discrimination, ensuring that every child has access to quality learning opportunities. To achieve this mission, Eduwis has set several goals. Firstly, Eduwis is dedicated to providing specialized early childhood teacher training alongside high-quality early childhood education programs. These efforts are aimed at securing the future success of children in their academic endeavors. Moreover, Eduwis strives to lay the foundational blocks for children's education in their later years, nurturing their social, physical, cognitive and emotional development. Creating an active social environment and fostering a healthy foundation for growth are integral aspects of Eduwis's mission. Eduwis is committed to developing children's self-regulation and self-confidence, instilling moral values and nurturing creativity. By focusing on these goals, Eduwis aims to create an inclusive educational environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

The Eduwis early childhood education program has a strong three-decade proven record. In 2015, Eduwis program received accreditation from the Ministry of Education on the Tadika franchise model. On top of fulfilling the National Standard Preschool Curriculum (Kurikulum Standard Prasekolah Kebangsaan KSPK), the award winning program focuses on every aspect of a child’s development based on the 4 unique selling points below:

  1. The 8 educationists’ approach
  2. Eduwis program is built on the basis of integrating 8 different educationists’ theories and philosophies. Eduwis combines the best elements in these educationists’ theories and philosophies. Through this, Eduwis program is able to provide young children a holistic education.
  3. More than 1,600 learning activities
  4. There are more than 1,600 different learning activities well-designed for the children in this program. Every topic that children learn will be brought out through different learning activities. To quote the father of kindergarten, Friedrich Froebel, “activities and playing are the highest expression of human development in childhood”. Therefore, through this kind of activity based learning, children get to learn in the most meaningful way. Learning activities are also known as structured play, in which children enjoy doing the most.
  5. Thematic integrated learning approach
  6. Thematic integrated learning approach connects all subjects together with an overriding concept. It crosses over subject lines and helps children relate basic academic skills to real world ideas. This approach helps the children to make connections faster and easier during the learning process.
  7. Compulsory individual piano learning
  8. Every child in Eduwis Preschool learns to play piano. The piano lessons are carried out in a way where they will have an individual session every school day but just in a short period of time. With that, the children learn and practice daily, while the lessons are kept short in their attention span.

To foster the personal development and growth of our teachers, Eduwis has designed and implemented the following initiatives alongside them:

  1. Pre-operational training (POT)
  2. Eduwis provides pre-operational training for franchisees, principals and teachers before the centre starts operations. The POT is a 10-day training which covers management training and program training. Program training is available for all teachers while management training is only for franchisees and principals.
  3. Monthly teacher’s training (EMTT)
  4. Eduwis understands that it is not effective to have a good program but without trained and skilled teachers to facilitate it. Early childhood education is not only for the children – Eduwis team understands that engagement in ongoing learning is critical to the provision of high quality education and care. Therefore, Eduwis has ongoing training for all the teachers on a monthly basis. Eduwis is a training provider certified by Human Resource Development Fund. Trainers from the Eduwis R&D team will collect information from the support team on the problems that are faced by all the centres and will give in-house training to solve the problems as well as enhance the teachers’ skills in guiding children. Eduwis covers a wide range of training like teaching skills, child psychology, teacher’s attitude, centre’s maintenance, annual activities and so on. Furthermore, Eduwis usually identifies these teachers' potential to enhance their career as centre principals. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Eduwis team has turned the monthly teacher’s training into virtually through video conferencing method. Additionally, the Eduwis team provides additional training to equip teachers with the new norm online teaching method.
  5. Leadership Shadow Program (LSP)
  6. Eduwis Leadership Shadow Program is a campaign to create career paths for Eduwis teachers. A career path gives the teacher a sense of direction, a way to assess career progress, and an opportunity to achieve career goals and milestones along the way. It is also a way for Eduwis to expand the number of centres from internally groomed teachers.
  7. Teacher for Teacher campaign (T4T)
  8. Eduwis started the T4T campaign in 2021 to help teachers share knowledge and skills they have with other Eduwis teachers. Eduwis team conducts T4T two to three times a week and has volunteered Eduwis teachers to share skills that are useful to other teachers. For example, Eduwis team members have teachers sharing interesting Microsoft PowerPoint animation skills so that the other teachers can prepare their online learning PowerPoint slides in a more attractive manner. Eduwis also has teachers sharing other non-academic related topics like personal image enhancement, among others.

An optimal learning environment plays a pivotal role in a child's educational journey, and at Eduwis, great emphasis is placed on providing just that. Within our facilities, various thoughtfully designed learning corners cater to children's diverse needs and interests. These specialized learning corners encompass various engaging areas designed to stimulate different facets of a child's development. Among these is the reading corner, where children can immerse themselves in the enchanting world of books, fostering a love for literature. The puppet corner encourages imaginative play, while the science and math corner sparks curiosity and exploration of these foundational concepts. The music corner provides an avenue for creative expression through sound and rhythm, and, most importantly, it stimulates children's brains while playing the piano. The home corner, also known as the role-play corner, allows children to engage in imaginative scenarios, fostering social skills and creativity. The water and sand play corners offer sensory-rich experiences that promote tactile learning and experimentation. We have a dedicated playground area for physical development and outdoor play, providing a space for children to engage in active play and social interaction. Additionally, the garden area extends the learning environment, introducing children to nature and instilling an early appreciation for the environment.

Eduwis kindergartens in Kuching partnered with the influential parenting duo, Johnson and Yuni, for an exciting outing!
